Adding insult to injury

Not only are the neighborhood boys trying to get into my house, but last night as I was out watering my flowers, they tried to open all the doors on my cousins car. Alex was out lifting weights and watching motorcycle shows on the Discovery channel and the herd of boys walked right up to his car parked in front of the house, with me watching, and tested all the doors to see if they were locked! You can only do so much yelling at a group of boys who could care less.

What do 4-6 year olds need with a 15 year old red jetta anyway?

Good Grief, Charlie Brown

As if it isn't enough that all the dumb neighbor kids on my street are up at the crack of dawn, unsupervised, driving their mini-suv's through the alley every single stinking day...or, that they use my yard as their gateway to the world....or, that they insist on playing in my yard. Now....NOW, they are trying to get into my house! ARG! On Saturday, Ross caught two of them in the garage about to open the door and let themselves in. Then, yesterday, the doorbell rang, and when I answered the door, four of them tried to mow me over and get in.

Where were their parents? Who knows! Where is DCFS? Maybe I should make a call.

Tuesday in California

Today: D-land day 3 and Happy Birthday Alex and Meranda.

Today was mostly shopping, hanging out in the heat, and Ross and I went to dinner at a great mexican place in Orange, Californina.

Monday in California

Today: D-land 2. Once again, not too excited about the park. Ross woke up at 6:00 am to ride everything with dad and willie and I just chilled at the hotel...sleeping in is wonderful. We hit California Adventure a bit today, though not for very long...too hot. Mom and I wandered around, wondering about the purple trees. If anyone knows what kind of trees these are, I would like to know. They are beautiful and all over California. Ross and I left the park today and went to a movie....Nacho Libre....it was okay. Ross laughed so hard he cried. Not that funny, but funny.

Tonight, we stayed and watched the fireworks in the park. Oh, how exciting. They actually were pretty cool and my goofy little camera has a firework setting that I experimented with and got a couple of good shots.

And, above all else, today was matching t-shirt day with the whole famdamily in our black harley-davidson-esque shirts. Mine was hot and uncomfortable and 60% polyester. Tasty. I think that there were 42 of us at the park this year...we were missing a few people, but most of us were in attendance.

Sunday in California

Today: Disneyland, Day One. This year, I can't say that the park held too much excitement for me, but I did go on a few rides (Indiana Jones, Jungle Cruise, etc.) and ate my asparagus wrapped in bacon from the Bengal Barbeque. Ross and I ate dinner at In-and-Out Burger (yeah) and just chilled at the D-land.

Saturday in California

Today, Ross and I flew into the OC very early, a 6:30 flight that we were nearly late for because our power went out and we didn't wake up on time. Highlight of the day? Eating Mexican food (pork tacos and burritos) for breakfast, visiting the farmer's market in Beverly Hills (That's where I want to be) and the Angles vs. Padres Baseball game. We had good (expensive) seats and had many foul balls hit our direction. That now makes two MLB games for me in one year. That's enough.

...Now I'm going to Disneyland....

Yep, you guessed it...tomorrow Ross and I are off to the happiest place on earth with the whole famdamily, matching t-shirts and all. We fly out at 6:30 am so that we can catch an Angels game in the afternoon and then have three fun filled days in the magic kingdom. Yipee!

...Nothing could be finer than to hang out in Saliner...

This week Haley and I went on a road trip...to Salina so I could present at the CUES "secretaries only" conference. At the conference we were served a very lite luncheon and chose to NOT participate in the chocolate facials...on our hands. Haley was a good helper and we were in a very nice Mac lab at North Sevier Middle School.

On our adventure we had a great time. We at at Mom's Cafe in Salina and at the Bare Naked Chicken in Gunnison. We reported a brush fire near Yuba Lake on our way to Levan, and almost got blown off of the road in Spanish Fork by Gale force winds.

Perhaps though, the funniest part of the trip was a water slide we found in Richfield (where we stayed at the Hampton Inn). The water slide said that it is open from 1-6 pm but, judging from the present state of the slide, I'm guessing that they need to change their hours. What do you think?

Adventures in San Jorge

I've been in St. George for the last couple of days teaching and wanted to share some of my experiences.
  • The teachers down here have been great and I've had a good time. One of them even took me to lunch at a cool, Cafe Rio type place called Sharky's....thanks nice teacher.
  • Grasshoppers are everywhere. I don't like them, am somewhat afraid of them, and they keep jumping out at me with their yuckiness. blah!
  • There is NOT an In and Out Burger in San Jorge. Someone told me there was, and right when I got to my hotel on Wednesday afternoon, I asked the kid at the desk, "Is there an In and Out Burger down here?" He looked at me and said, "We wish." I knew there was no where here for me to get a burger animal style. The funny part is, standing next to me was an older gentleman, and he said, "If you want to go somehwere and have a good meal, you need to find yourself a Chuck-a-rama!" Thank you old man, I'll remember that.
This is about all that has happened whilst in Southern Utah. In a couple of hours I get to drive home. Yeah!
