31 States, not too shabby

I'm feeling a little obsessed with geography these days...thus all the maps. My sister did this one the other day and added it to her blog so I thought that I'd do the same. Admittedly, it's not very interesting...but at least it's a post.

The slow walk into retirement

Last night, Haley and I went to a concert. We saw Death Cab for Cutie at the SC. The opening band, Mates of State royally sucked, but Death Cab is good. However, I officially came to the realization last night that I am headed down the road to concert retirement. How do I know this? One, I am starting to be one of the oldest people at each show I attend. Two, I almost always get GA "seats" and choose to sit through an entire show rather than stand on the floor. Three, I don't stay through the encores because I would rather get home and get to bed. Yes, this is tremendously pathetic behavior for someone who is not yet 30 years of age, but I think I'm done. Of course, there are still some artists who will pull me out of retirment (thus, the SLOW WALK) but for the most part I'm done. To commemorate my "coming of age" I have decided to put together a little list of some of the shows I have seen in the last few years. The first concert I ever attended was when I was 12 years old; that's 16 years of good concert going and I haven't really been to that many. I'm not quite sure how comprehensive my list is, but I think it's about everyone. If Haley or Ross can think of some that I've missed, I may need to add them to the list.

In no particular order:
New Kids on the Block
Billy Joel (3)
Elton John
Beach Boys
America
B-52’s
The Pretenders
INXS
Sting (5)
Barenaked Ladies (8 including in Holmdel, NJ; Denver, CO; and Las Vegas, NV)
Guster (6 or 7 or 8?)
Strokes
Ravonettes
Cold Play
Iron and Wine
Calexico
Toad the Wet Sproket (2)
Glen Phillips (2)
Nickel Creek (4)
Mutual Admiration Society
Chris Cornell
The Samples (2)
John Mayer
Death Cab for Cutie (2)
Jimmy Eat World (2)
Chris Isaac (2)

Rock wall NEEDS YOUR HELP!

Ross is building a beautiful retaining wall. These are a few of the pictures he took of the first layer of block. The wall is going to be much taller than it looks now and Ross cannot (regardless of what he thinks) build it alone. If you are interested in providing some manual labor this weekend, with the only repayment being a warm, fuzzy heart for doing some service and a hearty lunch, then please contact my husband (you must already know his number) and volunteer your services. PLEASE!

Petty Police

I hate it when you are working on a very detailed, ranting post to your blog, try to do something fancy, and BAM! You screw up, hit the wrong button, and loose everything.

Here is the short version:

Sometimes, living in the Truman Show sucks royally! Why? One, idiot neighbors have weeds that are so tall they are creating a jungle and they won't pull the weeds. The weed police are harassing Ross and me all the time about weeds that haven't even broken ground yet and these mornoms don't do a single thing....the weeds must be harvested and destroyed.

Ross got a parking ticket the other day for parking on the street against the flow of traffic. Well, he was against the flow of traffic, as were the majority of other cars on the street that got tickets. Why was he parked on the street? Our alley way is blocked off because it is being repaired? What time was the ticket issued by the sneaky piece of an officer? 11:30 pm!

ARG!

44 Million + 1

So, it's official. I've got the bedes. I was diagnosed last week with adult onset diabetes and, combined with some other issues that I'm not prepared to discuss yet, it has made me one unhappy camper.

However, the new insulin? Not too bad. Much better than the mess I was turned into over the weekend. Hopefully, things will work out and I can get things figured out and make everything much better.

Just thought that I'd share.
