Almost there...

At his 1 year doctor appointment, the pediatrician asked if Elliott was walking. Nope, I told her. No walking in our house. She then told me that if he isn't walking by 15 months that we need to be concerned. Yikes! That wasn't what I wanted to hear so we've been slowly working on walking.

In the last few days however, we've made some progress. I am making the little monkey walk around the house, and walk back to the house from the mailbox. He knows how to walk, but definitely doesn't see the advantage to it yet. It appears that this smart little fart knows that crawling, for the most part, is safer than walking and much less wobbly. But, tonight we decided to practice a bit and our practicing was very successful. See for yourself.

Pediatrician scare tactics. Bailey didn't walk until she was nearly 16 months when she got up walked and never looked back. I think she wanted to be sure she could get up and do it correctly from the get go. Riley on the other hand walked the day before he turned 1 and took tons of spills and was never as sure on his feet early on like Bailey. As you've figured out the munchkins typically do things in their own time! Looks like Elliot is definitely getting the hang of it!

Gentry and all the toddlers his age at the time were about 16-17 months before they walked. They were all a bunch of crawlers forever.

Micaela started walking about 14 months, but she could crawl at the speed of light. It makes sense not to walk when crawling is meeting all of your needs. I constantly see kiddos who don't walk until 18 months and we don't consider them delayed on their milestones. However, it appears you have nothing to worry about as he seems to be getting the hang of it!
