Is it really worth it?

I'll admit I'm a scrooge. At this time last year, I posted this. Well, let's add to the scrooginess again today.
I suppose that I can understand being festive for the holidays. I am sure that it is difficult to constantly suppress the urge to purchase giant blow-up turkeys, Santa's and Scooby Doo's from Wal-Mart as you are buying cheap crap that will break before you get it home. However, if you decide to put up your christmas lights and have a very tall house, please, a few things to keep in mind.
1- don't put lights on the top of your house.
2- if you must put lights on the top of your house, perhaps strapping yourself to the roof in some way is a good idea.
3- straddling the highest pitch point of your roof seems dangerous...don't do it?
4- hooking icesicle lights to a broom and dragging the broom around the roof while you are laying down and straddling said roof may cause expletives to fly from ones mouth.
5- said expletives may be offensive to your wife, standing on the ground yelling back at you and to various neighbors out and about, innocently getting their mail after returning home from work.
Just remember neighbor...what goes up must come down. December is only 31 days long. That won't matter a whole lot when you fall of your roof, cursing the holiday all the way down.
